- Your child has been given a homework duo-tang (orange) and is encouraged to bring their duo-tang to and from school on a daily basis so that should they have extra time in class, they may use it to practice and/or complete their homework. This will reinforce stronger time management skills.
- This homework will focus on the concepts that are being taught in class.
- Components and Timelines:
- Students will be given their homework at the beginning of every week (usually Mondays) and are expected to have it completed and hand it in at the end of the week (usually Fridays).
Each one of these daily activities should not take longer than 5-10 minutes each and are based on a concept being taught in class.
1. Lecture à la maison: Your child is encouraged to read in French for a minimum of 10 minutes every night (minimum of four times a week - weekends included). This will really help your child gain confidence in his or her pronunciation and fluency. Each time your child reads at home (preferably aloud to you, even if you do not understand or cannot correct them), please date and initial one box on the second sheet in their duo-tang. Each time your child has completed a row, they will color a province or territory on the given map of Canada. Every time they color in a province or territory, they will receive points and their name will be entered in a draw for a prize at the end of each month.
2. Pratique: Each week, your child will practice either a grammar exercise taught in class or number recognition in French, read a text and answer questions, practice singing songs, etc. The tasks will reflect what we are learning in class during that week.- 3. Unfinished work : Your child will be expected to complete any work that is not finished during class time if requested to do so.
- 4. **If there is no assigned homework for a particular week, students are encouraged to go to the websites component of this site (Go to more… and click on websites).
